The Oilers have the #1 best outlook of anyone in the league this season. Just think about it: They Can’t Lose.
Even if they lose every game and end up with another #1 overall pick, fans will still say, “great – its a part of the rebuilding process.”
Every game they win will send fans into a frenzy, saying, “Is Oiler Domination here ahead of schedule?!”
In short, they can’t lose. They lost so much and in such a completely demoralizing way over the past few years that they can now only win.
Don’t get me wrong – they’re probably going to lose a lot of games this season. That’s not the point. This team can’t lose.
In comparison to the Flames, who are about 5-6 years away from being in last place and being where the Oilers were 2 years ago, Edmonton is in great shape.
